Sibu Chapter Chairman Preview 2005
Another year has passed by, and it is once again time for the Annual General Meeting and the presentation of 2005 Annual Report for our Chapter I wish to thank Mr. John Wong Siong Cheng our Honorary Secretary and all various sub-committee Chairmen for writing t he Annual Report of their activities throughout the last year 5 for their dedicated services and leadership.
In last year's Annual Report for 2004 the tragic TSUNAMI occurrence in the Indian Ocean just before the end of 2004 was well remembered by all of us as a natural disaster of unpredicted magnitude in history. Our Chapter together with all humanitarian organizations throughout Malaysia and the world had responded positively and swiftly to do our outmost to render financial aids to the unfortunate victims of that disasters. However in the year 2005, the world was afflicted again with series of large scale natural disasters such as huge earthquakes, flood and air, sea and land accidents of severe proportion with millions of victims as the results. It showed that natural disasters, accidents and tragedies can occur anytime and anywhere. However, the organisations like MRCS have to be prepared all the time to do whatever possible to help alleviate human sufferings. Fortunately, God had been relatively kinder to us in Malaysia! Even so, we still had much to do to give help and relief to the less fortunate people in our Society.
Thus, 2005 had been another active and gratifying year for our Chapter's humanitarian works. We continued to give training for first aids and other humanitarian services to our Youth, Link and the public in Sibu, thanks to Sister Hajah Normah Abdulrahman and her active training programme. Our Link and Youth continued to recruit many new members and had many activities while many had to leave us. Our blood donation work remained successful is that the supply of blood by voluntary donors was adequate throughout the whole year. Our VADs and first-aiders covered all the functions of public nature in Sibu adequately. The long awaited new Ambulance donated by Tan Sri Datuk Tiong Hiew King was at last delivered to us, making our works more efficient and satisfied.
The MRCS Sibu Chapter building is old, and some face-filling and renovation works nave been planned but not yet carried out We hope to complete that in the new year. On the whole, our Chapter under the leadership of the Executive Committee members with the concerted effort of the staffs and active working committee members had a smooth and successful year. I wish to commend all of them for their selfless services and contributions. The generous Sibu public continued to give us their staunch financial support. I thank them on behalf of our chapter. May God bless them abundantly!
Finally, I wish each and everyone a happy and prosperous new year. May God bless those who helped the less fortunate members of our Society and give us peace and happiness.
